Working for Peace and Human Unity

Projects Needing Funding

Funding appeal for the Unity Pavilion

The Unity Pavilion Complex has been functioning since 2012. In 2014 the Hall of Peace, which houses the Nakashima Peace Table for Asia, was inaugurated. The facilities are much used and appreciated by the Auroville community. Activities and events include cultural programs, exhibitions, workshops and lectures as well as Auroville Community meetings. The Office also houses the International Zone Group, Auroville International, and Savi (Auroville’s organization for receiving volunteers and interns from India and all over the world).

The way the Unity Pavilion project has emerged, the way we have proceeded with construction at a pace as quick as was possible – quite often slow owing to funding and other constraints – and the way the activities have developed had thrown up quite a few challenges. And now we are faced with some practical difficulties for the everyday smooth running and use of the building.

Present projects where funding is needed

Utility Facility

With the increase in activities and events, we are being faced with the challenge and need of smooth running of the facilities. To answer this, a utility facility needs to be added with sufficient toilets/bathrooms, proper storage space, and laundry space.

Seating around the Peace Table

Though the Hall of Peace was inaugurated in 2014 along with the installation of the Peace Table, there has been an ongoing search for a beautiful seating arrangement around the Table.

Technical Support: Simultaneous translation system

There is a need to install a simultaneous translation system, to be used for community meetings, workshops and lectures

The Hall of Peace Garden

Funds are still needed and welcome for the overall garden work to proceed and be completed.

General maintenance, events and workshops

The Unity Pavilion attempts to run on a “gift economy”. The ideal and integrity behind the concept is participation and commitment, a way of working where money per se is not the deciding factor, but an element for enabling and making things possible.

We strive to have a friendly and generous environment with commitment – not a freebie situation, not tit for tat, but something which transcends that.

We often host projects that do not have the means to pay for the venue, but which do contribute with commitment to our Auroville society in other ways.

The Unity Pavilion also organizes and hosts events and workshops related to Peace and Human Unity, such as the work with the 12 Qualities or Aspects of the Divine Mother, Sourcing Our Oneness, etc.

Contributions to the upkeep and running of the Unity Pavilion are very welcome. All accounting is done through SAIIER and Unity Fund and fully transparent and accessible.

Contributions can be sent to Auroville Fund specified for “Unity Pavilion – project name” (e.g. “Unity Pavilion – Hall of Peace garden”, “Unity Pavilion – General Maintenance”).
